About The Festival

A Cinematic Exploration of a Shifting Time & Place.

Margate Film Festival is a not-for-profit, creative & cinematic arts organisation running since 2018, established to build communities and culture through film screenings and events. Now in its 6th edition, the festival showcases a range of local and international films, enriched by live performance, Q&As, exhibitions and public installations.

Margate Film Festival 2025 is a 5-day festival of film and moving image, exploring cultural politics, feminism, music, creativity and compassion. The festival runs from 26th-30th November in venues across Margate.

The festival is predominantly volunteer-led and not for profit. In 2024 the festival formed a board of advisors to help drive the vision forward with big ambitions for the coming years. We are always keen to collaborate and discuss partnerships with local individuals and organisations so please do get in touch

You can also make a donation to the festival and help us deliver bigger events to more audiences, helping the local community thrive.

“It’s a little bit gritty, a little bit edgy, a little bit arty."

- Festival Director, Kate Williamson, (Margate Mercury interview, Sept 2018)
